Senior Systems Designer

Intrepid Studios is looking for a passionate and talented Senior Systems Designer, interested in creating brand new worlds with a brand new IP. Our Senior Systems Designer would live and breathe math, spreadsheets and charts. They would believe in data, logs and playtesting. They can break down a system into its component parts and build it back up blindfolded. They must work well with others, enjoy and seek out collaboration, and to receive, act on, and supply constructively critical feedback. A passion for Massively Multiplayer RPGs is required!

Responsibilities

  • Design, prototype, champion and implement one or more core gameplay systems that may include: core experience, player progression, itemization, combat or classes
  • Maintain overall balance between multiple gameplay systems
  • Develop and maintain documentation of owned systems
  • Continually iterate, balance and tune features and gameplay based on feedback from team, QA and playtesting
  • Communicate, coordinate and participate in a collaborative, interdisciplinary, cross-studio team environment
  • Be adaptable, detail-oriented, well organized and a great communicator

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of game development experience in a systems designer role.
  • Shipped multiplayer titles on the current generation of consoles or PC.

  • Strong ability to deconstruct high level gameplay systems and creative direction into specific technical details, features and tasks.

Junior Gameplay Designer

Intrepid Studios is looking for a passionate and talented Game Designer, interested in creating brand new worlds with a brand new IP. Our Junior Gameplay Designer would be a generalist, who loves to get their hands dirty in all the design disciplines, and who likes to work outside their comfort zone in order to better learn their craft. They must work well with others, enjoy and seek out collaboration, and to receive, act on, and supply constructively critical feedback. A passion for Massively Multiplayer RPGs is a must!

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with a senior or lead game designer - collaborating or taking direction and guidance as needed on all assigned tasks
  • Design, implement and maintain designer content, which may include abilities, quests, events, or any other design driven content
  • Assist in the design and iteration of game mechanics or systems
  • Collaborate effectively with other departments as needed

Game Network Software Programmer

Intrepid Studios is looking for a Software Programmer with a background in-game systems and networking to join our team of talented developers! If you are a self-driven and passionate developer, looking for a highly collaborative and creative environment, then this position is for you!

Responsibilities:  

  • Design and implement high performance network software code in our game client and game server processes related to seamless travel and open world traversal
  • Contribute to our code base, systems, and software architecture as a member of our engineering team, with an eye towards making our software (both application and infrastructure) more scalable, reliable, and performant

Qualifications: 

  • 3+ years' experience building reliable, highly available and scalable platforms
  • Experience building in a cloud environment
  • A background in-game systems and networking
  • Expertise working with C#, C++, Java, Python, Javascript, and Virtualization Technologies

DevOps Engineer

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure maximum availability and optimal performance of all live cloud-deployed systems.
  • Administer monitoring systems to alert as appropriate for service degradation and downtimes.
  • Identify and troubleshoot system issues, interfacing with core engineering as needed.
  • Evaluate new tools and techniques to improve insight into overall system health.
  • Establish and audit recurring backups of all pertinent data and configuration settings.

Senior Environment Artist

Intrepid Studios is looking for an experienced Environment Artist to join our team of talented developers working on the Ashes of Creation MMO franchise! If you are a self-driven, passionate developer, looking for a highly collaborative and creative environment, then this position is for you!

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborating with artists, designers, and other disciplines to create engaging and appealing gameplay environments for our upcoming Ashes of Creation MMO franchise
  • Create AAA game environment quality assets and textures in line with the project's visual aesthetic and technical direction (references, documents, project meetings, etc.)
  • Integrate assets and textures created into the game engine’s pipeline, as well as using the in-game engine tools to support these assets in production (Shader Tool, Asset Composer, World Outliner, Collision setups, Performance Tools, etc.)
  • Verify the quality of their work once imported into the game, and make improvements when necessary
  • Use specific project tools and relevant content creation software to achieve best results and meet specified scheduling deadlines
  • Take constructive feedback and integrating those changes effectively
  • Iterating on game assets and environments with fellow artists via paint overs, studies, and group critiques to improve the look and gameplay
  • Efficiently use current game development methodologies, ( texture space optimization, texel density, appropriate polygon counts, mindful of object placement draw calls, and general game optimization practices, etc.)
  • Work with environment lead to determine the environment’s assets required based on pre-created concepts, project lead’s direction, design team input, and adjust the work accordingly to fit the story and gameplay provided by Game Design documentation

  • Portfolio demonstrating tiled textures and 0-1 UV mapped assets. Assets must show strong attention to detail focusing on believability and overall esthetic composition
  • Solid understanding of PBR standards and surface/light interactions
  • Strong foundation knowledge in traditional arts
  • Experience creating 3D art for a game project or title
  • Able to use 3D and/or procedural techniques to create high-quality materials within production timelines
  • Expert knowledge in Substance Designer / Painter / and/or equivalent software
  • Strong knowledge in UE4
  • Strong knowledge of Maya and/or another 3D software package
  • Strong knowledge of Zbrush modeling

  • Assist in the creation, estimation, and tracking of major features, tasks, and bugs
  • Identify, communicate, and help to resolve roadblocks in the development pipeline
  • Set and attend studio meetings, take detailed notes, determine and delegate action items, and set follow up meetings
